I would like to take this opportunity to say a big hello to you all! My name is Annem, and I've only recently started working at the Diamond Light Tantra office. Some of you may have met or received emails from me already.
At Diamond Light, a lot has happened in the month of July and plenty more is to come in August and September. I'll be letting you know about all the workshops that are coming up, and give you one of Leora's special Tantric Tip of the month.
On July 23rd, I attended my first INTRODUCTORY EVENING and met a wonderful group of people. The workshop was gentle and incredibly heart warming. I enjoyed a connection of friendship, healing, and a subtle but increasingly powerful opening of my sensuality, deepening, discovery and oneness. It's difficult to pinpoint how every individual will experience the evening but you will be opening your heart and rediscovering the love that surrounds us at all times, which sometimes in our busy lifestyles we can hastily miss. I say surprised as that was my first experience of Tantra... ever and what I got out of it was unexpected. I absolutely loved it (and not just because I was fed luxurious chocolate and fruit.) I came out of it with a different perspective on how I was looking at situations in my life. I also found that I was able to hold a strangers gaze and not feel uncomfortable. Instead it opened up a whole new window of opportunities for me to learn more about the people in my life, be it new friends or existing close relationships. Leora's August Tantric Tip: LOOKING WITH LOVE
Recently, at Deep Diving Level 6, we explored the following meditation from the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra:
LOOK LOVINGLY ON SOME OBJECT. DO NOT GO ON TO ANOTHER OBJECT. HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OBJECT -- THE BLESSING.
Spiritual teacher Osho makes the following commentary:
'LOVINGLY is the key. Have you ever looked lovingly at any object?
A beautiful face, a beautiful body -- you look at it, and you feel that you are looking at it lovingly.
But why are you looking at it? Do you want to get something out of it? Then it is lust, not love. Do you want to exploit it? Then it is lust, not love. Then really, you are thinking of how to use this body, how to possess it, how to make this body an instrument for your happiness.
Lust means how to use something for your happiness; love means your happiness is not at all concerned. Really, lust means how to get something out of it and love means how to give something. They are diametrically opposite.
If you see a beautiful face and you feel love toward the face, the immediate feeling in your consciousness will be how to do something to make this face happy, how to do something to make this man or this woman happy. The concern is not with yourself, the concern is with the other.
In love the other is important; in lust you are important. In lust you are thinking how to make the other your instrument; in love you are thinking how to become an instrument yourself.
So what is one to do? When you look lovingly, what are you to do? The first thing: forget yourself. Forget yourself completely! Look at a flower and forget yourself completely. Let the flower be; you become completely absent. Feel the flower, and a deep love will flow from your consciousness toward the flower. And let your consciousness be filled with only one thought -- how you can help this flower to flower more, to become more beautiful, to become more blissful?'
I believe that this discourse is self-explanatory. I hope that you will enjoy exploring its implications in your life as much as I have in mine.
